Ford Focus mk3.5 headlight to biXenon - not working

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!!!

I have Ford Focus mk3.5 (2018)

I bought original headlights for my mk3.5, but the high beams, or long lights, are not working. The parking lights, turn signals, and low beams are functional. My car is factory-equipped with minimal features, and the authorized service told me that I need an HCM (Headlight Control Module) and some additional components to enable all the features of these headlights.

However, as it is expensive, and I personally don't need all the extra features like lane tracking and cornering lights, I only want to have functional high beams and the ability to flash them. I would like to find an alternative way to activate the high beams.

My goal is to identify the pins on the headlight responsible for raising the xenon flap (high beams). I plan to connect these pins to my own connector and simply activate the function.

I need a pinout diagram for these headlights, or if someone has faced a similar situation, I would appreciate their assistance.

Thank you in advance.

You can not change factory fitted halogen headlights to Bi-Xenon headlights by simply changing the wiring.

What do you suggest me to do?

I suggest you get a refund for the lights you bought.

I'm assuming you want a brighter light so all you can do is upgrade the bulb to something like Osram Night breakers.

Or another alternative is to go aftermarket. I'm not sure if you can get Vland lights or similar plug in and go types but they're not cheap. About £650 for the Lexus is250 as an example.

Or you could trade your car for a titanium x Focus.

I may be wrong.  I am also doing the same upgrade from the non-projector type to the projector ones like the photo.  First and foremost is that we are led to believe that the middle bulb (the H1) is actually for high beams like how the non-projector ones do.  They are actually for static cornering lamps which light up when the steering goes to a certain angle while the low beams are on.  It is not for high beams.
The high beams actually use the same H7 or D3S (whichever you installed) bulbs in the projector lens.  There is an actuator that lifts up the cover inside the projector to give you high beam when you flick the stalk to turn on the high beams.  You should be able to hear a slight "clicking or soft thumping" noise when you flick on the high beam switch which indicates that the cover is open and high beam comes on.

Once again,  this has nothing to do with the bulb at the center that does not come on.  This is normal.

I was actually unaware of this and felt the same like you did.  I also stupidly wired up the center bulb to the high beam pin to get it to work.  This is wrong and you should just leave it as is unless you get extra modules and do extra work to get the cornering lamp function to work.  This is currently what I am trying to do and figure out.

Hope this helps.

Did you find the solution to open the high beams flaps?
