Another 1.0 Ecoboost engine question.

Jan 2013 registered with 1.0 Ecoboost P4JA Non-turbo engine, has a top end tappety  noise. No dash warning light on. Sump has been removed and oil pump pickup strainer found to be quite clean with minor fragments present. I got a new timing belt and wet belt fitted  and hoped with the oil pump pick up strainer being perfectly clean and new 'correct' oil in it I would have had better oil circulation to the top of the engine thus reducing this tappety noise that was present. Engine now back up and running with no change to the top end noise. Any suggestions how I can get rid of this tapping noise so I can try and sell the carto the first half decent offer.

The Ford definition of an Ecoboost engine is a petrol engine with a turbo.

I think you have a 1.0 Eco engine which is a bit different.

This engine was known as a 1.0 Duratec.

Interestingly, it does still use the same direct injection setup as the EcoBoost, unlike the later non-turbo 1.1 Ti-VCT that replaced it.

Given that info, I would be checking the high pressure fuel pump tappet next for a top end tapping noise.

Though if you just want to sell to a trader, I have to wonder whether they'll even notice the extra noise unless it's very loud.
