1.8 TDCI timing belt procedure - seals and gaskets

Featured Replies

New though been reading for a year plus. If this post is placed wrongly, then feel free to move it.

My 2008 TDCI Estate bought 18 months ago. Car has 60k miles (owned my a woman then her daughter from new). I've changed all filters and done a couple of oil changes already. No problems, once warm engine (minus DMF, which will get fixed) runs sweetly (for a 1.8 TDCI).

Plan to change wet belt + tensioner + case gasket as don't know if it was changed at 10 years. Won't change the water pump (ain't broke, don't fix). It has shown no fault (temp rock solid). When / if 100k miles will get the water pump changed (and done professionally) and change the wet belt to a chain UNLESS the water pump plays up before. then.

Question: with the timing case off, are there are other jobs to do there (apart from water pump). Are there any other seals or gaskets I should renew in and around the timing case area? I've looked through the forums but not seen anything (so maybe there is nothing more).

Thanks for any input (confirmation that no more than timing belt + tensioner + case gasket also a help).

Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo, What model ?

Your profile just says 1.8 TDCi and this is posted in the Ford general forum which doesn't give much help. I think you would be better to repost in the appropriate model forum so that you get the most replies.

Hi @unofix, it's a Focus. Should have said (could have been and Mondeo or Connect too I guess).
