Bmax Oil Pressure light..

Featured Replies

hello my 2013 bmax , this week i have had the Oil Pressure light & it says to( Stop Safely! Sounds Serious)  come on when starting car in the morning or when left idle for a few good hours.  it goes off within seconds!  & not on at all when driving.

The hand book only has information on Oil low.  useless. for this message.!!!

The oil was low so topped up. the message will not reset.. so have i resolved the problem?? not sure??   took to garage which promptly said this was a BIG problem with BMAX as had to nearly strip the engine to check all things to be sure the oil is getting to where its needed, or the engine will cease up!

To check if senor is faulty (age) Battery to be disconnected to stop Message, oil pump. oil filters all cleaned, some belt could be damaged & if breaks engine & car wrecked.   looking at 2days work  approx cost £1200.00. ???

Anyone else heard of this problem.  ( I the garage mean that just to find the problem all those things have to be checked & changed, before they can find the problem of the Oil Pressure message.)

am I being conned here . For safety reasons I am not driving my car until it has been checked out . I am a Carer in my community, I am letting my clients down, & losing income, but better to be safe than sorry. thanks any advice? Lucy

I take it you're a 1.0 ecoboost? If you are, you're at the age for belt change anyway.

If you are, get it sorted ASAP as engine failure will happen, very soon.

Ensure they check the oil pump for clogging and change the oil pump belt too

Does that include replacement of the wet cam belt? If it's just for diagnosis/inspection, then no, it's not a good price.

You're looking at about £1700 for a Ford dealer to change the belt. Less from an independent that know's what they are doing, many won't touch it because it requires specialist tools and a lot of hours.

As Dave has said, it needs doing ASAP, once the low oil pressure light comes on, it usually means the oil pump is starting to get blocked and starving the engine of oil which very quickly leads to total failure of the engine.

It's about the going rate, yes.

Changing the belt is quite a labour intensive job, heavy engine strip down

As Alex says, if the quote includes new belts, (CAM AND  Oil Pump)
