Turbo Not Working

Featured Replies

hi guys, i baught a 1999 1.8 tddi last week, it has done 93k from new, when i baught it i noticed there was a whirling noise when ever i put my clutch down, my uncle said its the turbo, well i took the car out today it its get a serious loss of power, theres no turbo at all, im still getting the whirling but no power, the car drives still and all but as i keep saying, theres no pull or power. im not getting any new noises or smoke, anyone have any ideas???

look at the intercooler pipes for leaks, or the intercooler its self could be leaking it easy to do its all the on top of the engine bay..

thanks for your reply =) ive checked all pipes from the intercooler and i can see any leaks or holes anywhere, ive looked at the intercooler sensor thing and it looks ok but i havent had it out yet as i dunno how, any ideas on what to check before i take it to a garage and get murdered on price lol?

i do not see how a clutch depressed can affect a turbo, it sound like you have two problems, the noisy clutch is most likly the release bearing on its way out, if the turbo is not working it could be many things like split intercooler pipe, clogged egr, accuator problem, boost problem or the turbo itself, without inspection its hard to diagnose.

i dont want to sound a total noob lol but i have no idea what a clogged egr, accuator problem is lol, the turbo itself seems to be ok from what ive read, im getting no noise from it or bad smoke from the exhaust, so im thinking its an intercooler issues or something between =)
