What is this connection for?

Featured Replies

As the title suggest, I'm having trouble identifying the below plug on the ACM.

I have found a 10 pin plug in my car which will fit into this, but I cannot find it on the wiring diagram.

I was under the impression that this was the output for the sub woofer, but the pins for the sub, on the wiring diagram, go up to pin 14 (and there are only 10 on this connection). Also the wires attached to the connection, do not match anything I can find on the wiring diagram.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

left two fakra are the DAB and FM antennas - the three multiplugs will be around

the biggest I guess handles

power
control
speakers

the others likely SatNav, Aux in, Bluetooth, Screens, Multifunction steering wheel etc... if you have a plug but it not in, whats bust ?

Thanks for your reply Botus, but it's specifically the connection I've highlighted that I wanted information about. I'm trying to retro fit a subwoofer and thought I needed the above ACM with this extra connector.

Maybe able to trace the connections?2013focusaudiounitconnschematic.thumb.jpg.0f0be000f5a2b21769efc8b68acd25bf.jpg2013focusaudiounitconnschematic1.thumb.jpg.23bf678f4ab89a8da8a1c51ba2c75d4a.jpg

Many thanks @Grisleigh for all the above diagrams. After scrolling through them, I now suspect that this connection is for an external CD changer that fits under the seat and is in fact nothing to do with the subwoofer. Dohhhh.. ...back to the drawing board!!

Your welcome Nathan, I thought it may've been a connection to the rear audio controller??

Good luck with your hunt Mate.. Hope you manage to suss it👍

Do you mean the misses...."turn that music down"!!

Yeah I did see the audio controller on the diagram, but I can't think what it would do and a Google search reveals no pictures.

Hi Nathan. Are you just wanting to add a subwoofer or more?

Hi Vlad. I managed to pick up a cheap sub woofer that fits into the spare wheel. However, I'm having trouble trying to locate where the four wires connect to my ACM. I thought I needed the ACM with the extra connection, but after buying one on ebay, I'm not sure this is the case. I'm now thinking it's the pins on one if the bigger connectors. I did wire these in on my original ACM with no success. So my next course of action is to try the pins on this ACM I've bought.

I assume it would be for the rear passengers to be able to control the Head Unit??

Hey sorry to revive an old thread, did you ever figure this out? im trying to suss this out too, i want to fit an android auto head unit to my car... The unit powers on but, i lose subwoofer and parking sensors if i dont plug in the grey 10 pin... I assume its to power on and feed DSP signal back to the amplifier for the ford premium sound option.
