4 Season Tyres for mk3

Featured Replies

Good day.

Already had Bridgestone weathercontrol and michelin crossclimate (on fiesta).

I think they are similar.

Bridgestone's some small parts were torn apart.

Which is the best four season - all weather tyres for this model or general?

Continental contact 2 has nice reviews.

Good day.
About Goodyear Vector gen 3. Fitted on Ford focus mk3 1.0, one year ago, for around 15000 km - 10000 miles.
Up to now these tyres are excellent overall.
The only bad thing noticed is where some parts of the road are dirty - muddy. Two - three times now grip was almost lost, not dangerously, but almost dangerous.

My rear tyres had small crack perishing advisory on June 2024 MOT. They'll likely fail this year so I'll get them replaced. My front tyres are budget and although the nearside has just been replaced due to failure, the offside can't be far off.

Therefore I may as well buy 4 brand new tyres at the next service MOT / just before.

I'm tempted to get some Continental ultra contact tyres.

Sort of makes me wonder though, how I'm paying £85 for budget tyres, yet continental premium tyres are only £15 - £20 more - am I actually getting better value?

You are considering to buy all weather / four season tyres?

I don't need 4 season, I don't get much snow down my way , so any tyres I buy will be good enough.

But what I want is some premium tyres that aren't going to start cracking just 1000 miles in to their life. Like the cheap ones I have now - Sunny tyres. Every MOT has either failed tyre or advisory on perishing cracks. Each year, new tyres. One or both.

Since this thread is about four season tyres.

Michelic Crossclimate are considered to be durable. I had them many years in a fiesta

Also Goodyear vector gen 3 are considered to be durable but i have them for one year now, so i can't say yet for sure.

Only issue is on muddy roads(tarmac), only under this condition vector 3 grip is not steady.

Its been a few years now since i owned a taxi. I always used Goodride all season tyres with great succes. I always thought good price for a pretty good tyre. Just my ramblings.

Never heard of Goodride. Do you mean Goodyear?

Im sure they are an off shoot of Goodyear, they just make a more budget friendly product. Ive never had a problem with them TBH.

About Goodyear vector 3 (all seasons).

Having them already for more than 12000miles or 18000km (more than one and a half year) these tyres perform very nicely.
On dry it very well, lot more than average grip.
Next generation could improve the braking (when the weather is hot). However they are not bad.
On wet the grip is nice (can be improved on next generation). The driver has to make sure that the tyres have the best tyre pressure. If they don't the grip will not be so nice and safe on muddy-dusty parts of the road. If the tyre's pressure is correct then they perform well.
Tested them on very cold (not freezing) to very hot (higher than 40C), they performed very well, on dry and wet.
Their shape and condition is still very nice, despite the use (mileage) and the time.
They can perform well (cautiously of course) even on sporty driving.
Even under heavy load their performance remains steady (tyre pressure has to be right).
Overall they are above average -to excellent on dry, wet, cold, very warm, rain, braking and handling.
