Severe coolant loss in my ecoboost engine.

Featured Replies

Hello all. I have owned my 2014 Focus Zetec S for about 4 months now. Over the past few weeks, I have noticed my coolant levels dropping quite dramatically, with them draining about 500ml in an about 20 mile journey. I have taken it to the garage where the car was purchased from under the warranty and they have replaced all of the coolant housing, pipes and thermostat and I still have the problem. I'm guessing the problem is internal, has anyone had any similar experiences with their 1.0 ecoboosts? Many thanks.

It was quite common on the earlier 1.0 EcoBoost's though we hear more about wetbelt issues nowadays.  Could be cracked head (particularly around exhaust ports) or blown headgasket.

New engine is the most economical option, especially as the wetbelts are due on a 2014 model as well.

I doubt the dealer will want to cover the cost of an engine so be prepared to reject the car.
