Leaking Shower

Featured Replies

How is it in this day and age of flying spaceships to the moon and Mars etc that it's seemed acceptable that you take it for granted that you're going to have to replace the silicone in your shower every couple of years? 🤷

Cars have had, mostly, rainproof windows for years so why can't we have something similar for showers and baths?

Either that or silicone that doesn't go mouldy after 6 months, even proper bathroom stuff.

Now that's odd. My shower (s) were installed 32 years ago (when house built), and both are as watertight & cosmetically OK as the day they were installed. Maybe NI just sell stronger silicone LOL

Dont use cheap silicones {bathroom Grade} go for something serious like Aquarium Sealant, flexible and lasts for years.

A lot of folk in the know swear by different brands of bathroom stuff but I have never seen aquarium grade being recommended, but it kinda makes sense 🤔

More homework (Googling) 😀

I spent many years in the double glazing industry from manufacture to management, and i kept a large fish-house at home, building my own tanks in many instances.

I've kept fish on and off over the last 40 odd years, not to the extent that you went to though 😲

To be fair I enjoyed the setting up/planting etc more than keeping the fish! 😀

I've only got the one tank setup now in the garage (which is looking very much the worse for wear with algae etc) and "Shush, don't tell the serious fish keepers" a Biorb in the dining room.

My avatar was one of mine amongst many others, i specialised in Discus.
