I am looking to buy a new connector for my crankshaft position sensor (ford fusion 2005 but similar to other models) The wiring is broken you can see the copper oxide (green) where its split

Can anyone give me any tips?

I don't think Ford sell these plugs separately.  There are some available on eBay that may be suitable such as this one.

Hopefully the wiring is not damaged any further so you can just cut it off and fit the new plug.  If it is damaged, you will obviously have to add a short section of wire as well.  It may be more economical to buy the plug from a breakers yard with a length of wire still attached to it, as long as the replacement is in better condition.

Horrible job to do if you buy the connector as Tom linked to.

Horrible in respect to the crimps and the crimping tool to do the job right.

I have a JA crimp tool (not cheap) but dont think it it does those size crimps, my neighbour asked me to do his audi electronic brake plug recently, i refused and advised him to buy a connector with the tails already done.
