Key reprogramming

Featured Replies

I have recently written off my fiesta (68 plate). I have purchased a new one today (70 plate) but it only came with one key. Can I reprogrammed my old key  so it can be used in my new car.

No.

Since  2013 the ability for the owner/user to reprogram the ignition function (immobiliser) has been removed by Ford for security reasons. Also of course the metal key blade would not fit your new car.

A trip to the Ford dealer is the safest answer. They will delete the missing key and programme you a brand new key. Cost is about £198 including VAT.

Do not use any company that simply clones your existing key, for example Timpsons.
