My phone has recently developed a nasty bug!

Featured Replies

Recently, and totally at random, my android 10 phone goes nuts about once/day. It goes through a 10 to 15 seconds sequence of showing the swipe down panel, locking the phone from my control, taking a screenshot, turning on torch, often turning on the do not disturb function, then returning back to normal.

Rebooting does nothing, and I've run anti virus apps numerous times. Any idea of the cause?

Back it up, kill it, and reinstall the rom, either a software or hardware fault.

Sorry, you must have an assumption that I know stuff 😂

Back it up, back it in, let me begin...

That's definitely not leaving my head for the rest of the day now.

Tune! 👍

This is quick and worth a try, put the phone into Safe Mode.

If the problem goes away in Safe Mode then one of the Apps that you have installed is playing up.

With my Sony on Android 9, I press the Power Button key to bring up the symbols, then long press the Power Off symbol on the screen for a few seconds. I then get a prompt asking if I want to Boot it into Safe Mode.

mmm... just tried that on mine, doesn't work (long pressing does nothing). But I'll do a bit more research, thanks for the tip...

Same on my Samsung A54 👍

Just tried that on my Sony Xperia. Long press of the screen power off resulted in it instantly turning off !!!

Then after about 30 seconds it came back on with only a few of my apps. I nearly missed that it said 'Safe Mode' in the very bottom left side of the screen. So, yes it works for me, you learn something new every day 😀

How strange, I thought all Android phones were the same except Samsung.

I get this prompt after pressing the Power Off for about 3 seconds

I just tried again, properly! That's exactly the same pop up I get, thank you. Will experiment more in depth next week.
