2018 Focus MK4 Dash Errors

Featured Replies

I've recently acquired a 2018 MK4 Focus with some issues which I'm struggling to resolve and I'm hoping I can get some help

I have two issues

- pre-collision assist malfunction

- park assist malfunction

the diagnostic errors are shown below

I don't have a radar or ACC so struggling with the forward looking sensor?

For the front parking sensors, I've switched them around with the rear ones (which don't show errors on the computer) but I still get the front parking sensor errors (along with errors for the rear which is strange also)

The fog lights work which I guess means the wiring is fine?

Anybody able to help?

Confused 🤔 You say the rear don't have errors but then you say they do ?

......and this proves what ? Front fog lights, rear fog light, not sure what either has to do with problems you have.

Sorry I typed it without checking

- the front parking sensors are showing an error and the rears are not. When I switched the parking sensors round - the front show errors as do the rears

- the front fog lights are connected on the same wiring as the parking sensors. I assumed this would mean the wiring is connected and power is being sent to the parking sensors  I've checked the wiring and there is no damage

Pictures have turned up now 👍

Generic code readers usually do not show all/any of the Ford specific DTC's. If you use FORScan then you will get a better explanation of the faults. Swapping the front and rear sensors would cause a fault, as far as I know they are not all the same.

Has the windscreen been replaced ?

That makes sense. Could have saved some skin off my fingers if I had known that. Went missing whilst getting the rear sensors out without taking the bumper off!

I also tried a volt meter on the front sensors and each were showing a similar resistance. Some slightly higher but not majorly ranging between 0.4-0.9.

There wasn't a obvious open circuit which threw me abit

I've just invested in a switched elm327 and will download forscan when it arrives. Hopefully it will give a specific code on the sensors

Could the errors be linked? I.e the front parking sensor issue causing the forward looking sensor/pre-collision malfunction?

No it's the original windscreen on the car

To close this issue

My car had a radar from factory and it looks like it was removed and the wiring is also not present

I coded it out with forscan by setting the pre collision assist to be camera only

i still have the front parking issue and it seems as though it's a wiring loom fault

Looking to source a loom at the moment
