Help identifying engine and possible oil leak source

Featured Replies

Hi all thanks for the add, can anyone shed light on if this is the revised engine, 2018/19 I.E as in no wet belt and a timing chain? Also the yellow spanner popped up twice and went off? I did find some oil substance below the right side of the engine below the battery, see pictures. I'd appreciate any advice as I've contacted the dealer about this, I've had the car 2 and a half weeks and now I'm concerned from reading most of the posts on here. Any info and advice appreciated, thank you20240305_222151.thumb.jpg.95a21824cbd08c3a1246288131090011.jpg

Hi, the engines which have engine codes starting with B3 or B7 (for example B7DA for 1.0 ecoboost 125 hp) should have timing chains, and oil pump wet belts.

The marked area seems to be close to the clutch actuator, which I believe is hydraulic, but I am not sure.

Yes that's the chain engine.  There is still a wet belt for the oil pump.

That oil pool is on top of the gearbox, so I'm wondering whether it's gear oil rather than engine oil.  They do smell very different although the colour is similar after a while.  There is a breather pipe on top of the gearbox so that may have been knocked off.

Yeah there is a breather valve right where you said, I'm wondering if this is due to probs being topped up? There's a little square crevice where it's pooled, but not anywhere else? The yellow spanner icon popped up for a minute then went off, is this connected? Bringing it back to the dealer tomorrow. I appreciate your help pal, thanks

No problem.  The yellow spanner could be anything so best to wait and see what the fault codes are tomorrow.
