Transit custom alternator

Featured Replies

So yesterday got partly stuck on mud in a country lane. Rocking and revving back and forth and it stalled. Then it wouldn't start so used my battery pack to get going. Every time I stopped had to jump it. Went to my mechanic and he says a new battery and alternator are needed but I'm not sure. Any advice?

Fit a new battery and alternator or go get a second opinion from a different garage.

As said above, but, if it was mine, I would check if the alternator was charging, using a multi-meter between the battery positive terminal and earth. Expect to be between 13.5 to 14.5 volts with the engine running.
