When I start the car cold or accelerate it makes a  whistling sound does anybody know what it could be ? The whistling does get a bit  louder when I accelerate

    Could be a pulley going down, water pump or alternator

    I would disconnect/remove the accessory belt for a few seconds and run and see if it stops
