Hot Side Intercooler Pipe Gash – Advice

Featured Replies

Hi there.

I hope you are all well.

I recently got the powertrain fault light on the dash of my 2013 Ford Ranger 2.2 TDCi. When scanned it produced the P00BD error code which indicates “Mass or Volume Air Flow "A" Circuit Range/Performance – Air Flow Too High”.

Upon inspection of all the relevant pipes/hoses and connections I have found a gash in the hose leading from the turbocharger. However, the gash is above the pipe which connects the turbocharger to the hard plastic intercooler pipe. Which part do I need to buy to replace this? I have attached a photo of the gash and as you can see it is clearly above the shorter piece of rubber hose which seems to me to be more problematic...

The diameter of the pipe which has the gash/tear is clearly smaller than the piece which goes over it, but I don't know what I need to replace it with.

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you!

I'm not sure that's a split but it's difficult to tell from the picture.  It's part of the cast aluminium compressor housing.  If that is cracked, then you'll need to replace the whole turbo.

Thank you for this.

I thought this too, but the part that seems split is not rigid. It seems rubber-like in construction.

I’ll do a bit more inspection but certainly seems it’s turbo/intercooler hose related.

Thanks again!
