What is the "claimed range" for a MK7 Zetec S? I have the 1.6L engine, and I am very lucky to get 280-300 miles to a full tank. That's if I run it from full to empty. I find the fuel economy is very poor, I have done around 75 miles since filling up and already in between 3/4 and 1/2 a tank. Yes majority of that is town driving so short miles, longest drive I have done with that is a 20 mile round trip or so. Just seems a bit odd since I've seen some people claiming 350+ miles to a tank.

 

Also does anyone else's engines seem hot after running even though cooling system is all working perfectly fine?

    350+ was probably for the diesel Zetec S?  Real world mpg for the petrol is around 35mpg.  The tank is about 40 litres, so works out roughly 300 miles.

    The official figure for the petrol is 48mpg - but that was recorded before WLTP tests, meaning they could create perfect factory conditions and remove alternator belts etc.  You'll never get close to that in the real world.

    Perfect thank you. Don’t get me wrong relatively “cheap” to fill at the moment at around £48 so guess that makes up for it in a way😂
