Front Interior Light Comes On When Boot Opened

Featured Replies

As above, I've just noticed that, when you open the tailgate, both the boot light and the front interior light come on. If you were still in the driver's seat, and it was at night, 10W of light in your face wouldn't do your night vision any good.

I also can't see that it's meant to be a warning if the tailgate isn't shut properly, as there is warning light on the dashboard just for this.

However, the two lights aren't simply connected in parallel. If you open a door, the interior light comes on and the boot light doesn't, as you would expect.

My old Mondeo hatchback's boot and interior lights didn't interact like this.

I will check out the wiring, and see if there is a simple way of making the two lights operate totally independently.
