S max 2.0 tdci oil usage

Hi all my name is Gordon new to ur forum I'm looking for some help with  my s max 2.0 tdci 140. She's only had 38.120 miles from new full history it seems to be using some oil and I'm not sure why when I bought it the garage i got it off said they add serviced but I never trust them so soon as I got it service at  my garage I trust .it runs and drives great good preformence good mpg etc love it but sent it back in after a couple of months done about a 1000 miles or so and had it all checked over and my mercanic said I've added 1 ltr of oil wich we thought Emm so kept an eye on it we av now done 39500 on it I've. Checked the oil again and on the dipstick it's down too the middle mark again.my dip stick s the one with line for bottom xxxxx then line again then space then top. I wonder if anyone out there has any I dear thanks G
