P0191 error

Featured Replies

Fiesta ecoboost 1.0 2013 engine stopped after a hump back bridge and will not restart. Error code P0191.  Looking for a fuel cut off switch in the 3 suggested places, steering column,  behind glove box and passenger kick board but nothing evident.  Does this have an inertia switch? I have also tried the key reset. The engine turns over but doesn't start. Any ideas ?

What happened on the hump back bridge to make it stop?

Did you jump and land harsh?

They may have an inertia switch, try and see if the handbook mentions where it is, try front kick panels or boot floor

It's a bridge near our home that we cross regularly but this time the engine died and we  couldn't restart it. Tried rolling down the hill to bump start but nothing.  Tried the front kick panels and boot but no sign of a switch.  Thanks

P0191 is fuel rail pressure sensor

I see you have a 2013 Ecoboost 1.0 model. Has the wet timing belt been replaced in the last 18 month ?

There is no physical inertia switch on the Mk7.5 Fiesta.  It's done through the engine ECU on modern Fords.

If the fuel supply has been cut off due to an accident (or a perceived accident) there is a sequence of key cycles to follow to restart it.  Should be similar to this Focus video -

It hasn't been replaced. Having trouble finding a garage willing to do it

Thanks.  Tried this but it hasn't worked so will try replacing the fuel sensor

Have you checked that the camshafts are still rotating when the engine is cranked ?

The wetbelt may have failed as Unofix suggested.

The high pressure fuel pump is driven by the engine.  So there won't be any fuel pressure after it cut out.  That code is likely to be a result of the engine cut out, not the cause of it.

Can you hear the electric fuel pump whining in the tank when you open the door or switch on the ignition?

Fuel rail pressure sensor now replaced but still not starting.  The cam belt moves. Have tried all the online tips for resetting.  Ford dealer wants to have the car towed to them to reset the ECU

That's going to cost.

Have you not got FORScan, that can perform a reset and a relearn

Hi...

My mates just had a similar issue, I was just wondering if the forscan solved this and what to look for in forscan to resolve the fault. (Haven't played much with forscan)
