Computer not finding module HELP!

Featured Replies

Hello!

My parking sensors on my mk4 titanium X mondeo 2.2 are not working. When I press the button it makes a sound and flashes. I’ve plugged in and opened up forscan. But it’s not finding the module for the parking sensors. Can’t remember what module I need exactly I think it’s called the pcm modules. I have the obd2 adapter with the switch on call ELMconfig from Amazon. Do I need a new obd2 adapter or something else?

It's PAM - Park Assist Module

PCM is Power Control Module (Engine ECU)

Are you different getting modules with the switch in different places?  I can't remember whether the PAM is on HSCAN or MSCAN.

It should request HSCAN or MSCAN depending on the route in, that reminds me i need to look at my PAM not beeped in ages

Right I see. I tried changing the switch over to mscan but it didn’t help. I did do it though whilst forscan was open. Would I need to disconnect switch it over then reconnect to forscan?

No, it switches while Forscan is connected.

Sounds like the switch isn't working if you can't get any modules from MSCAN.

Possibly, the latest version of FORScan recommends using the 'vLinker FS' cable/adapter

Delete your vehicle profile from FORScan.

Reconnect with the ELM327 lead and the switch set to MS

Tell FORScan do to a new scan of all modules. It will tell you when to change the switch to HS. Do not disconnect the lead or close FORScan while it is doing this.

If it does not find the PAM it is either dead, or you need a new lead.

Right I see. Thanks alot!

I was under the impression Pam module was part of the HSCAN? So I was confused when I only saw around 5 modules on HSCAN. Maybe it is a problem with the cable this is the one I bought https://amzn.eu/d/7zczJ9v

Thank you! I also re downloaded the drivers and did what you said and it’s all working now.

If you can't see PAM that's because it's dead.

Fit a replacement PAM and it will show up.

If you connect to the vehicle with the CAN switch in the wrong position, set the switch correctly, disconnect from vehicle, delete profile and reconnect.

Mark the switch

Do you know much about the Bluetooth modules for the Mondeo? I have the Sony dab stereo with phone calls and voice command. Looking to swap it with one of the newer gen modules if is as easy as old one out new one in?

If your going to be delving into FORscan regularly, take a Full BACKUP of your current working settings the put it somewhere safe, USB stick NOT the Pc/laptop your using.

re, ELM 327 cable i swear by the modified Tunnel-rat leads, never ever had an issues with them, as yet never had to use the new V-linkers so cant comment on them.

The modified, if you are not going to do any firmware updates are OK.

Never be tempted with and ELM327
