Ford Focus 2016 1.5 Diesel - “Engine service now”

Featured Replies

On nearly every journey I make in my ford focus 2016 1.5 diesel Titanium (85,000 RM) a warning “Engine service now” (orange) comes on. The car goes into limp mode about 50% less power. If I stop and restart the engine the warning clears. My garage has checked for fault codes but none are recorded. This has been getting progressively worse over 4 months. The car has been serviced as required by Ford I have owned the car for 76,000miles with no issues. Has anyone else had this problem ?

Is your normal garage a Ford franchise? If it isn't their diagnostic system is unlikely to be able to read all Ford-specific codes. You can read the codes yourself using FORScan which is a free download for Windows or a small fee for a smart device. For Windows you'll need a vLinker fs cable, about £30, or for a phone a dongle. Plenty of info about this if you do a search on the forum.

I had the same issue. As said above you need forscan to read all the error codes. Most of standard obd2 scanners won't pick up Communication error begins with"U".

Are you planning to fix it yourself?

What was issue? And how did u fix?

The 9H308 component needs to be cleaned of the large amount of coke deposits and 6C653 gaskets need to be purchased. The cross-sectional reduction of the pipe leading from the EGR valve to the turbo due to coke deposits is usually the cause.
