Ford Ranger EMS light

Featured Replies

Hi Guys and Gals,

New owner here of a '70 plate Eco 2.0 Ranger, had it just about 6 weeks.

After about 3 weeks of light use, mainly urban, the EMS light came on. Contacted the dealer as it was under warranty. Took it to a local garage and he said it was the Nox sensor but he didn't wnat to do it. Took it to a garage recommended by the dealer, exactly the same. Confirmed it was the Nox sensor but also didn't want to know, said it was too much hassle.

The dealer then took it and supposedly took it to a pal of his who is a Ford Master tech. He replaced the sensor. Anyway, OK for another couple of weeks during which I used it precisely twice for short journeys which did include short motorway runs (10m each way). The light has now re-appeared. It's under warranty still but I can't have this continually, doing my head in and I have no peace of mind. Now I've got to repeat the rigmarole.

The vehicle has done 77,000 which is nothing for a diesel. I'm starting to think I've bought a pup.

Any clues?
