Ford Fiesta 2008 Passenger Door

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

First time on the forum so apologies if placed in the wrong section.

I have a ford fiesta 2008, randomly my passenger side door won’t open from the inside or the outside. The key unlocks and locks the driver side fine but just will not open the passenger side. The handle for the door inside is curved in as it would be when it locks and when I pull it to open it you can hear the mechanism click as you would expect but it still will not open.

Im wondering if it’s my actual car key battery that needs replacing as the button can be slightly temperamental when unlocking the car or could it be something else?

any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

It's not the key battery.

Two most likely options are a break in the door wiring loom or a faulty door latch mechanism.

Hi Tom, thanks for the reply

If it’s not the key is it just best to take it to the garage then and hope it’s not too expensive of a fix?

Thanks 🙏

That depends on your skill level & experience.  It's not difficult to replace the latch with a used part but if you don't have any previous experience then it probably is best left to a garage.

I would advise using an independent garage rather than a Ford dealer.  The Ford dealer would only be able to fit a brand new genuine latch at a cost of potentially 10x as much as a used one.
