Seat belt issue fiesta Mk8

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have a saggy seat belt compared to the passenger side.

Other issue is the slide that adjusts the height of the seat belt doesn't lock in any position just loosely slides up and down.

I have a air bag light on however this seatbelt was like it when I brought it, and now recently a light come on.

Fault code suggests a issue with the driver restraint system but does not say exactly what. I have a random disable airbag fault aswell but don't have the on off switch at all in the glove box.

Sounds like the pre-tensioner has blown.  Is the car previously written off?  (If not, it could still be undeclared accident damage).

There are places that will refurbish your belt for around £50-£100.  Otherwise it can be replaced with a good used one - as long as it's not from another accident damaged car of course.

Regarding the height adjuster, that's probably just broken.  It can be replaced at the same time as the belt reel.

Yes, two separate parts.  The reel itself contains the explosive pre-tensioner charge and the ratchet mechanism.  That is then bolted onto a long bracket for the height adjustment.

I suspect someone temporarily cleared the fault lights to sell the car.

Okay mate just had a look online doesn't appear to be any parts guides for ford's, only their main website which isn't great.

Any idea how I get both part numbers I think I'll just replace both.

Thanks for your help really appreciate it

The parts catalogues we can access only go up to 2016, they don't cover Mk8 unfortunately.  The only option is to contact a Ford parts desk, unless you know someone that works for Ford.
