Adam W
Hey hey all!! I have my eyes on a Focus ST170, grey 3door, 52 plate. I have watched it for the last 8/9 months, going from £5700, down to its recent price of £3999 on the forecourt, or £3499 on autotrader. It's done 49k, apprently has full service history, and will come with a years ticket, and 3 months warranty. My question is...is this all to good to be true? The guy I spoke to (its an EMG dealer) said 'Yeah we are keen to get rid of it' I asked if there was any movement on the price and he immediately say 'yeah of course' WHAT?! I have never known that! I am going back this Saturday for a good look and a drive, and talk numbers etc. Any advice?! Thanks!

Thanks! if they are that desperate then ask for a longer warranty 3 months on that type of car isnt a lot and most dealers will offer a year i paid 2995 for my foci and got 1 years parts warranty on it i wouldnt touch a car with only 3 months as it usually suggests they will expect issues with it if they wont extend the warranty then dont buy i. check the service book thoroughly and make sure all that should have been done has been done budget in that youll need the belts doing at some point 8 years old ide do it soon to be on the safe side and mind the fuel costs are dearer other than that make sure no warning lkights and all electrics work inc central locking and you get 2 keys with it do the dash trick see if any fault codes are logged

So assuming the car is right, you then just need to evaluate the cost of fuel [urban Cycle 22.8] Remind yourself the Road Tax is £245 or ust short of £260 bought 6 monthly. Then there's the insurance to consider. On fuel consumption figures, my 1.6 the official figures are Urban 32.5 X Urban 51.4 Combined 42.2 Yet in my real world driving environment where motorway roads account for circa 20% of miles covered, on 4256 miles I've brimmed and monitored I'm averaging 32.56mpg. So if you averaged the urban figure in the ST170 and covered 7k per annum @ 111.9 per Lt it will cost £1562 per annum in fuel. Adding all the above up you can possibly see why they still have not sold it after 9 months. So if you do buy it, I'd start advertising it for sale straight away ;)
