Hello everyone, I am French and I am in need of essential help here.
My 2003 Ford Galaxy has been immobilized for several months due to a problem with a gear shift cable. This part is completely unavailable here, whether new or used.
My vehicle is in very good condition and has low mileage (150,000 km), and I cannot bring myself to abandon it because of a simple cable!
It's a 2.3L petrol engine, and I only find parts for the diesel version...
I am therefore reaching out to you to see if anyone has a solution! Is there another model of cable that I can install? Are the cables for the 1.9 diesel compatible? Or any other solution...

    The diesel engine & gearbox are completely different to the 2.3 petrol.  The cables are not compatible.

    As far as I can tell, those cables are not used by any other Ford model.

    Has the cable snapped?  Usually it is just the end fitting that comes away on this type of cable.  A good mechanic may be able to modify the end of your cable.

    There are a few 2.3 Galaxy's being broken for spares on ebay UK.  It might be worth contacting each seller directly to ask if they have the cables and are willing to post them to France.

     Hello and thank you for your response.Indeed, the cable is not broken; it's the part that holds the sheath in place during cable push that is damaged. For now, I have secured the sheath with cable ties to be able to use the car, but I don't think it will last long.I will try to contact some people on eBay UK... but I am not sure if the fact that the steering wheel is on the right side affects the cables...

    Yes, I searched using this code that Ford provided me... but without any result.

    No, they are the same.  The gear lever and the gearbox are in exactly the same place. :smile:

    I have one, it is still in the car though, you can have the whole vehicle if you want, it has no third gear anymore so I am planning to scrap it soon.

     

    There is a company called Autodoc, they have this part in stock.

    Its a fun job to change this part as you have to remove the carpet to get at the cable.
