Galaxy 2012 towbar electrics - can't work out what I need!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2012 2.0tdci that I want to fit towbar electrics to. I have the towbar, just need to sort the electrics side of things. I believe my Galaxy has the towing module fitted, white box behind the left hand removable panel at the back of the boot space. I can also see a plug dangling there which looks to me to be connected to the towing module.

My question is what do I need if I want to have 13pin dedicated electrics. I've looked at loads of kits online from various sources. Some kits seem to be just the 13pin socket connected to a single connector, others seem to include modules. I can't work out what I need to buy! I don't want to but a full kit if all I need is the 13 pin with a single connector.

Has anyone had any experience of fitting a dedicated kit to a 2006-2015 Galaxy with a towing module, and if so please could you tell me what you bought and what was in the kit?

Many thanks,

Justin.

The Ford Galaxy needs a 'Trailer Module' fitted, they are not already there and they are black. Not sure what you are looking at but it could be the reverse sensor module which is sometimes white.

There are different versions of the trailer module for your 2012 Galaxy but it is probable that it is Ford part 6G9N-14B192-AC which is Ford Finis code 1755427

You also need to use FORScan to activate the Towing option in the BCM so that the vehicle knows it has a tow bar fitted.

Thanks Unofix! Much appreciated! I've got Forscan so can do that bit. I'll get on and order the kit.

Thanks again!

I ordered a Witter towbar, informed them of my Ford galaxy 2010, when you start fitting it you find out that the wiring was not long enough to reach each side of the lighting wiring loom,so you have to order extention wiring. Then when you connect up and try the lights, side lights and indicator lamps work Ok, but your Brake lights won't work until you order and fit a TEBA7AS Relay which is not supplied. This information is hidden further down the instructions in the leaflet.

It works fine now, but they could have made it easier being the so called experts in Towbars.
