B&O system

Featured Replies

Hi all

Apologies if this has been covered but just looked at a 21 st line x Fiesta and it has B&O sound system.

I looked under boot floor expecting to see a subwoofer but there's a spare wheel.

I was told system has 10 speakers onc sub and total of around 600 watts so assume there's an amp somewhere.

Where have they hidden it all?

Subwoofer was moved to inside the side wall of the boot on later models. Only 7 speakers afaik.

Focus B&O had 10 speakers at one point - tweeter & mid in each door (8) plus the centre dash speaker and the sub in the boot made 10.

Fiesta may not have had rear tweeters or dash speaker?

Mk 8 Fiestas also briefly at launch. Stripped back to 7 pretty quickly  - 1 centre dash, 2 tweeters in A pillar, 2 front door and 2 rear speakers.

To confuse things further some cars (my 2018 was one) still came with 7 speakers even though they were non-B&O.

Did you mean sub rather than dash speaker?  I thought they all had the sub, but that would make 8. 🤔

Just checked the final Mk8 price list.  6 speakers were standard across the range - including ST3! 😮

B&O was optional, but still listed as 10 speakers.

(We all know the price list isn't 100% reliable though.)

Yes, you're right, that was with the Sync 3 option, nav, and digital dash. Don't think you could have it with the Sync 2.5. Not sure when they slipped the 10 back in - I have an early 2021 list that states only 7.

Whole thing has been confusing since the launch of the Mk 8. I still have the original brochure from when I ordered my ST-L X in September 2017. If you ordered B&O, with some model/spec combinations you got 10 speakers, with others only 7.

The 10 option is quoted as 4 front, 4 rear, 1 centre dash + subwoofer so that treats the sub as a speaker to make 10.

To add more confusion, on the dedicated page for each model (Titanium X for example) it states 10 speakers with B&O but in the specification table only says 7!

And at that time, the ST-L X came with 7 speakers, though non-B&O. My current ST-3 only has 6.

As you say, the only reliable thing about Ford literature is that it isn't reliable!😀

PS: to add to possible further confusion, the non B&O speakers have a badge shaped recess and various people sell gel badges. I couldn't resist!😀
