2011 Galaxy 2.0TDCI and I replaced the shock, spring, top mount bearing and top cap but once assembled the top mount is not horizontal/level.

I have aligned the two tabs on the bearing in line with the tab on the shock but the top mount is nowhere near flat, if fitted to the car it sits higher then normal so I know its not right.

I called into Ford who kindly printed the official ford alignment instructions to insure I wasn't doing something wrong.

In order to get the top mount level I would have to rotate the bottom section of the bearing way over to the side before releasing the spring tension but this goes against the installation instructions, do I have a wrong part or am I doing something wrong, iv disassembled and assembled it a few times and I cant understand what the problem is.

Can anyone tell me what maybe wrong? thanks

For anyone that encounters this problem I can confirm that the problem was the struts themselves, when placed side by side with Sachs struts there was an obvious difference in the plate position where the spring sits, approx 15mm which was enough to disrupt the spring tension and causing the top mount to go out of alignment.

Once I fitted the Sachs shocks and aligned my tabs it was perfect.

The shocks were listed for my car so may have been manufactured incorrectly, iv lodged a complaint with the manufacture to investigate and im waiting for a response, but incase anyone else encounters this issue I hope they see this post and save themselves a lot of head scratching.
