It’s been in ford for 3 weeks now they are saying the issue is attached below and it needs a new engine £7000

we don’t know what to do, they have offered 22% towards this

surely this is admitting liability

Seems a bit suspect.  The oil does get forced into the wiring harness on the 1.0 as a known semi-common issue.  But nowhere near enough to run the engine low on oil by itself. The wires would all be bulging with oil by now if that had happened!

For future reference, the car is a Focus ST-Line EcoBoost.  The ST is a totally different spec.  And the Ecosport is a totally different model.

Sadly I can't offer much advice on what to do next.  The car is out of warranty so Ford have no obligation to fix it.  You may find it cheaper to have another garage fit a replacement engine, even without the 'goodwill' from Ford.

Not actually clear what the engine issue is. Has it seized altogether or making terminal sounding noises? Did any warning lights come up? How long since the last service and has the oil level been checked since?

Like Tom, I can't see that much oil being absorbed by the wiring harness.

So all that oil has been sucked into the wiring harness in under 3 months? Seems even odder. Makes me wonder if it was filled correctly at service.

Yes we know who did the service so trust that the service was done correctly

no warning lights

If you go onto the EcoBoom Facebook group you can search for it over there.

Here's just one link on this forum though.
