Fuel display issue not registering

Featured Replies

Hello All I’m hoping someone can help me yet again with the Kuga, I have a mk1 2012, Tdci,  I recently put fuel in the car and the new fuel didn’t register on the digital display but the physical gauge did, the counter is still counting down and nothing new has come up and still showing what fuel I had before topping up. Has anyone else experienced this.
Also, I am not sure if it’s connected, but recently I’ve started to hear like a rattle metal kind of noise from the engine that sounds like a loose bolt that only happens at certain times and can’t get the car to replicate the noise when sitting still, so finding it hard to investigate, however when going along, taking the car out of gear and holding the revs around 2k is when I hear it, But when the car is sitting still reving the engine it all sounds normal. I will have to get it booked in to investigate more, I was just wondering has anyone else had this issue with the fuel not registered. Could it be connected to the noise or have I got 2 Issues. What controls the fuel registering on the digital display.
thanks in advance for any reply

Yes, my daughters 2010 Kuga sometimes does this. Then after a few days it sorts itself out. I suspect there is an issue with the fuel sender unit in the tank.

The same sender is used for the gauge and the range display so it doesn't seem like a sender fault to me.  More likely to be some sort of electrical glitch in the PCM or cluster.  As long as the gauge works, I wouldn't worry too much about the range.

Thanks guys, It would be good if it does indeed fix itself. I was also thinking that since the gauge is working it would be more of maybe a loose wire or the start of maybe a cluster issues as these cars seem to be prone to it. I’ll have another go at putting more fuel in today and see if it resets, fingers crossed. I also have to try and find this rattle noise. It looks like I may have 2 separate issues. Thanks again guys
