Help identifying engine management light/ yellow spanner

Featured Replies

Hi all, hoping I can get some answers from the good people here, the wife was driving the car today when the orange spanner light came up, message to see manual, then went off? I plugged in the only OBD11 reader, the one I bought for our previously owned audi. No codes stored. Might need to try another? But what i did notice was when i turned the car on, after a few seconds the engine management light flashed 7 times and went off, i tried this a few times to see if it repeated and it did? Is this normal and have we just not noticed it before? We bought the car back in March, at the time the same happened with the spanner popped up and off again, so we had it back into the garage we bought it from. They ran a full diagnostics and nothing found. No loss of power ect, then or now, the only thing that just happened right before it popped up was the rear break pads wear indicator started slightly screeching, they are due to be done, could this be a factor? I'd appreciate any input or advice from you guys, ford focus st-line 1.0 2018 revised engine. Serviced and mot done a month ago.

Thanks all

the flashing could be an error code, google it up. Failing that fond someone with FORscan to get it read, standard weapon of choice on fords.

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

You can just use an android phone. All versions read the same DTC's and can reset things like service indicators and codes.

Only the Windows version can make programming changes.

FORscan runs fine on win 11 pro, its on my laptop, i have the modified ELM cable , tho yours will need the V-linker, UNO is the expert

A little confusing, but the phone versions (android and iphone) of FORScan are called "lite" because they are unable to do any programming changes. The diagnostic capability of the lite version is exactly the same as the Windows laptop version.
