I've just purchased some new tyres (4) for my EcoSport, I'm looking at lowering the profile from 55 to 45 on my fusion.

As I'm changing the 18 year old suspension I thought why not give the car better tyres, as the Fusion's do tend to drift on tight corners.

If reducing the wall may help, your ideas appreciated 👍 

Assuming you have 195/55x16 at the mo, you'd need to go up to around 205/45 x17 to maintain circumference and reduce speedo error, so new wheels required also.  Ride comfort would certainly suffer.

Not clear what you mean by "changing the 18 year old suspension" - are you just renewing the existing components or uprating/lowering? If the latter you may feel the extra expense of wheels/tyres and loss of comfort is worth it - depends what you want.

 

 

I was going to upgrade the suspension, but I'm just replacing like for like, but better components.

It's a bit of a dilemma, as the alloys at the moment were the upgrade size for this vehicle.

I need to look at the wheels & what's out there to complement the vehicle, there are tyres & tyres, but which one looks good & does the job is a challenge.

Soft summer tyres in the UK are a waste of money especially the condition of our roads.
