AC problem.

Featured Replies

Hey, unsure if this is in the right place but could do with some help.

A week or so ago setting 1 & 2 on my ac stopped working, no air what so ever yet I can hear a hissing sound.

Settings 3 & 4 both work but even on 'cold' it's bowing warm/hot air.

Any idea what it could be? I've looked on Google and it's given me a few different things and a few different prices for repairs ranging from £10 to £300+

I'm doing a 2.5hr motorway drive in a week with 3 kids and I can't be doing with the car being 167302million degrees!

Thanks for any help/advice

Louise ✌🏼

Hi Louise! in my opinion it sounds like your AC issue could be related to a few potential problems.

Looks like Harry didn't want to stick around 🤔

Hopefully it's just a regas U need,

Airpods are magic when kids are in the car😊

I survived the 2.5hr drive 🤣 it wasn't that hot thank god!

I dont need air pods lol, I just turn the music up until I don't hear them complaining. 😊

Would a regas make 1&2 work again as there's literally no air coming from them as all?

I was contemplating taking it to kwik fit as they do like an A/C free check?

I didn't get a notification for any replies so my apologies I haven't replied sooner. Who's Harry and why has his comment gone? 🤣

Thanks for your replies

Louise ✌🏻

A regas won't fix the blower speed issue.

Sounds like you have more than one problem.  If possible, it would be worth removing the radio dash panel to check that all the plugs are still tight in the back of the heater control panel.  It may even be a fault with the control panel itself.

The fact that there are issues with both blower speed and temperature blend suggest that it's not just one faulty blend door actuator in this case.  As is fairly common on others.

My husband has tried to take the panels off to have a look and can't work out how to do it 🤦🏼‍♀️

I'll try get him to have another go with it.

I never have easy fix problems with any of my cars 🤣

There's a very small plastic grill under the radio panel.  That needs to be popped out with a flat screwdriver or similar.  Then there are 2 Torx screws above it.  The screws go into the white plastic seen here.  Then the heater panel is held in by a couple more screws.  (Same for both manual dials an electronic climate control)

Soooooooo, we've managed to get the front off (alot of swearing involved) and all the switches and things are fine.

Rang a local ford place who said it's probably the heater resistor as it's apparently a common fault. No idea how true it is 🤷🏼‍♀️

Had a Google, bought a part and it doesn't fit... soo any idea where I could get 1 from?

I've added a photo of what I mean.

Thanks

Funny that, my 'blower' too has stopped working on positions 1 & 2, (3 & 4 work just fine) and I also am awaiting delivery of a new heater resistor. Yes, apparently it's a very common problem.

Looks like part number 1695812.

You're a star thank you! It doesn't have any numbers on it so this will help loads!

Did you ever get yours sorted?

I ordered the part and got it today (I have the link if it's needed) and it works! I now have fully working AC! 🥳

Just in time for winter 🤣

Got the part now in my garage awaiting fitment. Will get done soon. By the way, you do know that A/C is for winter too? It's Air Conditioning , not Air Temperature. It removes moisture from the air hence even in the depths of winter, will ensure that your windows don't constantly mist up with condensation...

Yea I do know it's for winter as well 😊

I needed it for myself to cool down when it was a lot warmer.
