DPF cleaned and remounted. Next steps to get running?

Featured Replies

I had my DPF cleaned at a shop and have mounted it back to the car. Mondeo 2.0 2011. I did a simple reset using my iPhone, WiFi dongle and Auto Doctor but still get error codes as soon as the car is started.

What is the correct way to continue? I guess I have to do a forced regeneration using Forscan and laptop? Like in this thread below?

(Sorry for asking instead of just trying, but I have reached the family/garage limit today and have to minimise car-time :))

I believe you have to reset the limits, using FORScan, so it thinks it's got a new DPF fitted.

I'm not sure though, I'm sure someone else will know

I'm not sure either, but will have to find out because next week I'm fitting a new DPF to my daughters Kuga.

Reset DPF learned values for soot/ash loading.

If you're having temp codes then the EGT values need to be reset as well.

Personally I don't recommend forcing a regen on a new DPF.  That would be like boiling your kettle dry!  Just take it for a longish drive of approx 30 mins so the heat activates the core adhesive to seal the core to the can properly.

Edit - If it's a vaporiser model, you may also need to prime the vaporiser.

Limits? I it a specific number or just a reset? Guess that will clear when I get Forscan connected tonight.

I haven’t seen any vaporizer, guess that would have been mounted close to the filter. The filter only has two electrical plugs and two thin pressure pipes.

By the way, I got a protocol from the filter cleaner shop looking like this (below). It’s in Swedish, the rows are Weight, Back pressure, Flow. Apparently they cleaned out a kg of soot….

Yes, the vaporiser is just before the DPF and has a fuel pipe attached.  So if you removed the DPF yourself, I doubt you could miss it.

Learned values reset is just a service procedure.  There are no numbers to enter.

There obviously is a Vaporiser. But I haven’t touched it since it’s at least half a meter in front of the filter. Guess it’s no need to prime it it it hasn’t been touched?

Correct.  If it wasn't disconnected then it doesn't need to be primed.

You need to check if it is working, if it is not then that may be the reason your DPF became blocked.

There should be plenty of information on YouTube on how to check it.
