Hi help or advice needed focus 1.5

Featured Replies

Hi I've got a 2020 stained focu5 1.5d

2 weeks ago the dpf filter cleaning thing came on and took the car a run and it cleaned it

2 weeks later tonight it came back on and was out for over a hr and it's not came off was doing a little over the limit

The car was on a diagnostic machine and and said lost communication with body control module

The start stop function stopped doing it when the cleaning filter came on last week

Has this something to do with the module

The cars going in to the garage for a fuel filter change and the start stop what can I say to them about the filter

Thanks in advance daniel

Putting the car in to a Ford garage is probably the best thing for you Daniel.

It's going in to the place I bought it for should the dpf need cleaned less than 2 weeks

DPF regen happens roughly every 100-250 miles on this era of diesel.  So I would expect it to regen every week or two, depending on the type of driving you do.  However, the light doesn't come on until it's failed a few regens and becomes 'overfilled'.  I suspect there's a secondary issue filling the DPF more quickly or preventing it from completing a regen fully.  This shouldn't have anything to do with the body control module.  All done through the powertrain control module.  But you will most likely need Ford specific diagnostics to see the reason for regen failures.  Generic garage scanners may not be able to see that information.
