Mk7 fiesta low side air con pipe

Featured Replies

Is it replaceable as a DIY job or would everyone recommend a garage do it?

I can see that it may involve removing the whole front end just for access so if I can do it myself, much preferred.

Anyone know of a guide to replacing the air con pipes.

As long as the system is completely empty, changing an AC pipe can be done by a DIY mechanic.

Make sure to lubricate the o-rings on the new pipe before insertion and check that the pipe seats perfectly flat before tightening the bolt.

Cheers. Whats the best way to access the compressor end? Light out, or bumper off?

Not sure exactly which pipe you mean.  The low pressure pipe comes from the evaporator behind the dash into the compressor on the engine.  Nowhere near the bumper.

If it's the top condenser pipe, that may be accessible through just the headlight.  If it's the lower one, you'll probably need to remove the bumper.

Not sure if it'll be any help but this is the access on Mk3 Focus with bumper off when I did mine.

The low pressure, from the firewall connection to the compressor. Ive just had a look. The compressor end of the pipe is accesible without removal of anything. Can get a ratchet up the gap and undo that end. Thats all i was worried about.

Just seen its a dual pipe into a single block job. Im assuming its just a push fit into the compressor coz i cant see any bolts holding it in. £165 from the ford online shop https://shop.ford.co.uk/products/ford-fiesta-air-con-system-tube-hose-2008-2012.

MAHLE ORIGINAL AP 116 000P that might fit but better safe than sorry.

High pressure pipes aren't usually a push fit.  I suspect there's a stud & nut on the compressor that goes through the gap in the middle of that block.
