Hi I have 1.6 tdci fiesta 2014

does anyone know what the voltage on the 3 wires to the the turbo actuator should be?? And also what the colours are ??



The sensor on the actuator or the solenoid for the actuator?

Sensor wires are steady 5v reference, 0v ground, and a changing voltage on the 3rd wire depending on actuator position.

Thanks for the reply. So I have 5v and two 0v. Will the voltage change on one of the wires if I move the actuator by hand  then. Because mine doesn’t and I have underboost code and p2562 turbo circuit. Would you say that is my problem. And any ideas how to diagnose were the issue would be if that is the case thank again.

Yes.  That code is for the turbo position sensor circuit.  We do need to be specific about that as there are several other circuits relating to the turbo.

If there's no voltage at all coming back from the turbo position sensor when the actuator is moved by hand then I would say the sensor is probably faulty.

The sensor can be removed separately though a few members have said they could only buy a new sensor attached to a new actuator.

Ok.  Need to do a continuity & resistance check on the earth wire next.  Although there's no voltage on it, that doesn't mean it's got a good earth connection.  Without the earth, the 3rd (signal) wire won't function correctly.

When u say earth wire do u mean the one on the sensor. I assume so lol. I’m goin to test it now.

So I have 5 volts from the yellow wire I’m assuming is live. Blue wire I’m assuming is ground. Has a reading of 0.01 volts and continuity reading of 023 but multimeter beeps. Purple wire assuming is signal wire has reading of 0.11 then when u pull the actuator arm it moves to about 2.29volts. BUT the continuity reading was 345 engine off ignition on and 448 when car is running. I’m assuming that’s not right?? If you could help again would appreciate it. Thanks

That does sound roughly correct.

As the sensor plunger moves, the resistance will change to adjust the voltage output down the signal wire.

I'm not sure exactly what the resistance readings should be.

I suspect the actuator moves when the engine is switched on, which would explain the difference between engine off & on.

Next time you do any resistance tests, make a note of the SI units.  I suspect those readings are in milliohms.

Sadly I don't think we're any further forward after those tests.  Looks like there is a good earth.  And the signal voltage is changing when you move the actuator.  It's possible there's too much resistance on the signal wire, but we would need to compare your results with another identical car to confirm that.
