Identifying a rear axle

Featured Replies

I mentioned in my 'New Member Introductions' post that I wasn't sure what rear axle is fitted to my 1962 Consul Capri. I have attached some pics

and hope that somebody on here can confirm what axle this is.

The car is doing 26mph (on a gps speedo) per 1000rpm in fifth gear which is slightly too high. The car is running a 2l Pinto with a Type 9 5 speed box. After DaveT70's post in the new members section, I got the car up on axle stands and I get roughly 3.1 turns of the propshaft to 1 turn of the rear wheel.

looks like a 1978 Ford Capri rear axle possibly from the 3.0 ? 🤔

(Atlas NO) it a a Salisbury type, and possibly 3.09:1.

Also known as a "D" type.
