Mk 4 Escort 1990 XR3i Fuel pump

Featured Replies

I have had problems starting the car recently and it will not start now. It sounded like the fuel pump was priming but not reaching adequate pressure. I've dropped the fuel tank with the intentions of fitting a new fuel pump, however on inspection it appears that there is a grey rubber seal on the fuel pump connector joining the pump to a pipe on the sender unit, this has degraded and dislodged therefore no longer giving a good seal. This is the reason why fuel pressure is not being achieved and pump is probably OK.

The question is where can I buy this small grey rubber seal as I cannot find one anywhere online.

Also if I can't source one, is it part of the pump if I buy a new one or is it part of the sender unit?

Thanks in advance for any input.
