Alloy Markings? related to fitting bmax alloy on a fiesta.

Featured Replies

A friend has a b max alloy wheel and tyre. The alloy looks just like my 15 spoke alloy.

Want to use as a fulll size spare ( I know that comes with issues) I have fitted to my car to check fitment.

The inside of the alloy has markings on most of the spokes. All the information is the same between the fiesta and b max alloy. Such as the size specs etc

But two markings differ. On the feista it has 1L , but the b max has 3L. Also on another spoke the fiesta has 12, but the bmax has 11?

Is this just a casting manufacturing marks, or something more critical?  See pics.

I have checked online, and could not confirm if these wheels are compatible. Between the bmax and fiesta, hence the question of the casting mark.

2012 Fiesta 1.4 Titanium 3 door alloy.

195 45 r16 tyre

one spoke marking says 1L

one spoke marking says 12

All other cast markings the same

B Max alloy

195 45 r16 tyre

one spokes says 3L

one spoke says 11

All other cast markings the same.

I use the following website.

it depends on year. I didn’t see what year or model the bmax was though.

assuming it’s a similar year the wheels are the same.

i prefer full size over space saver and the only down side is if there is space in the boot to store it.

Thanks for the reply.

I can not confirm the bmax year ,hence no comment on it. Though it is identical to my Fiesta 15 spoke alloy.

I have a feeling it was a Titanium range design. As the bmax it came from was a titanium.

The off set ,wheel size is all the same on both wheels. All the other markings that I can not i.d are the same.

Its just the two markings I have mentioned that I wonder about.

I have looked into marking in general with alloys. Nothing like the mentioned markings have come up.

I do feel they are related to manufacturing batches etc. But of course I want to make sure if I can for safety.

As a side note I also tried something odd, I asked chatgpt A.I. Old dogs and new tricks and all that

It told me the 1L/3L was most likely related to a finish/paint code. On looking the two wheels are slightly different silver.

It also said the 12/11 is likely a year manufacturing date. Which adds up.

If you see my photos it shows the 11/12 marks with dots next to them, maybe the month?

I inputted the specs from each alloy and related it to each car, this is what it said ;

Given the detailed specifications you provided:

  • B-Max Titanium Alloy Wheel: ET41.5, E6.5Jx16H2
  • Fiesta Titanium Alloy Wheel: ET41.5, E6.5Jx16H2

Since both wheels have identical specifications:

  • Offset (ET): 41.5 mm
  • Width: 6.5 inches (6.5J)
  • Diameter: 16 inches (16)
  • Double Hump (H2): Ensures better tire bead retention

Additionally, both the B-Max and the Fiesta share the same bolt pattern of 4x108 and likely the same center bore of 63.4 mm.

Conclusion:

The alloy wheels from a B-Max Titanium with specifications ET41.5, E6.5Jx16H2 will fit a 2012 Fiesta Titanium perfectly.

All key parameters match, ensuring compatibility without the need for modifications.

I’d say the numbers in the circles are probably specific to the tooling used to cast or forge the wheels then the numbers and lines possibly year and month of manufacture as you have what looks like year followed by up to 4 groups of 3 dots.

During manufacture they’d just centre punch another dot into the tooling each month then update inserts for the year annually.
