How do you call breakdown from latest Ford Pass app?

Featured Replies

When I bought my Ford 6 months ago, it supposedly came with 2 years ‘Allen Assist’. I got no paperwork nor contact info for this, BUT, as my AA cover has just expired, I looked at the Ford Online instructions for calling for breakdown and it says to go to the ‘service’ option in the the Ford Pass app, BUT, it is not there. I am sure it was in an earlier version of app. So what do I do now to call for breakdown assistance?

Never heard of Allen Assist.  That must be dealer specific?  If it's just their name for Ford Assist, there is a telephone number you can call for that:

If you are in the UK, you should call Ford One Call on 0203 5644444 Option 1

Though I think I'd contact Allen to confirm that you do actually have breakdown cover if there's no record of it.

I have the new version of the App and under “service” there is an option to call for assistance

The reason I asked this is I had my first puncture in 20 years, and I go and buy a car that has no spare!

Got onto Allen group and they took all my details and said they would call me back. 5 hours later!!! they text me to say they don’t provide that service on a Sunday, and to book in at a Ford Agent on a weekday. Luckily, the car is at home. Not my idea of a breakdown service….

I really must put my glasses on when reading. I thought you had said "came with 2 years Alien Assist" 🤣

They do work on a Sunday, so might be of more use to you 🤔

Do they even know it's a Sunday?  They may not have randomly decided to arbitrarily group planet rotations into sets of 7... 😮

Just a bloke called Allen answers the phone, laughs at you, then hangs up.

About the same level of care as a main dealer, but without fetching the sandwiches in your car

Well, I got my puncture fixed at a local garage (no aliens were harmed). But as I drove home, the ride was so hard (roads full of potholes) that I checked the pressure on the repaired tyre, only to find it a 50psi! The correct pressure for this tyre is 25psi. I let some air out, then my dash was reporting low tire pressure (not a miss spell here, that’s US talk for tyre I guess). So the garage had not bothered to reset this setting either. This was not a back street cheapo garage so I was a bit horrified that they had set the pressure to, in my opinion, a dangerous level. Meanwhile, my son had two new front tyres fitted at a different garage, and he said the steering felt very light. So, I checked the pressures on those tyres only to find both were at DOUBLE the recommended! My pressure gauge (ye old mechanical type), agrees within a couple of pounds to my now reset, dash tire pressure display, and so I know that is OK, BUT, why do garages get away with giving cars back with dangerously high pressures? The built in pressure sensors don’t seem to be warning of reporting excess pressure. Am I the only one who actually checks pressures with a gauge these days?

Lesson learned. I had 2 x new tires fitted yesterday. I stood in the workshop whilst they were done, and specified to the guy exactly what pressure I wanted in them, and watched him do it... (X-files, 'trust no one'...) 😁

I hope you've checked the wheel nuts as well.  I lost two wheel bolts after a national chain left them loose, the other two were only holding on by a few threads!  Had only been driving a month or two when that happened.  Have never trusted a garage to do them up since.  In fact, I used to keep spare wheels specifically so I could fit those and take the ones for the tyre change in off of the car already.

You see, you're too trusting, not always a bad thing! LOL On watching the guy fit my 2 new tires, I watched the whole thing, including him tighten all 10 x nuts with a torque wrench, though to be fair, I am a bit of a control freak 😂

I'd never have guessed!

As I said though, that was many years ago...back when I actually thought people could do the job they're being paid for.  That naive notion has long since passed!
