Changing 16" Titanium Alloys For 17" Zetec S Alloys

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

Basically on Friday I will hopefully have a fiesta titanium, its got the extra styling option pack and i think changing the 16" 15 spoke alloys for the 17" Zetec S alloys would be a nice touch and set the car off.

My question is are there any alloy wheel shops that will let you trade in your current alloys against another set? and you pay to make up the difference?

I know i could order the Zetec S wheels from ford, get tyres on them and fit them, but then i am going to have to sell off the titanium wheels on my own and im lazy :P id rather get it all sorted in the same day if possible.

Does anyone know of such a place that allows you to do this?

(Proper newb btw, sorry!)

Thanks

If you haven't picked the car up yet, the best option is to get the dealer to do the swap for you. They'll be able to reuse the brand new alloys and tyres supplied from the factory on someone else's car. If you do it yourself after taking delivery, they'll be classed as used (even if mint) and you'll get pennies for them.

One thing to watch is what brand of tyre the dealer fits. People on here have complained the dealer has fitted some cheap no-name jobs instead of a recognised premium brand.

I think the factory fitted price difference is about £250 for the 17s. The dealer might be able to match this or get close (I wouldn't pay an upgrade of more than 400). Bear in mind the wheels are about £150 each new and decent tyres about £120.

Thanks AntonyJ, I forgot to mention that I am picking the car up second hand, so the wheels will be classed as second hand :)

I took a look on ebay and saw a set of titanium wheels with tyres for around £350, so i will probably just by the alloys myself, at least that way i have a chance to try and sell my titanium alloys for a reasonable price.

Where would be the best place to order the wheels from? Ford direct?

Thanks again

european-parts.net sell them

Also on offer from Ford online parts here at £140 each inc VAT:

Fifi's in for her first service tomorrow, so bracing myself in case any wheels are buckled & need replacing.
