Focus 1.6 tdci econetic dpf forscan readings

Featured Replies

I have recently purchased a 2013 Focus 1.6 tdci econetic and I'm a bit concerned about the dpf.My work is a 7 mile journey each way on an A road, but I also do quite a few short journeys to my parents, shopping etc.I'm thinking a buying a decent bluetooth dongle to hook up with forscan lite to see when I should take it on a good run but from what I've read on these forums forscan doesn't give readings for soot load on this car..So my question is are there any other readings on forscan that would tell me that the dpf is due a blow out? Would I get a warning anyway( engine management light) that soot levels are high,I could always just wait till I get the warning then take it for a blow out??

If the radiator fan runs on after switching the engine off, it's just failed a regen.  Take it for a longer run as soon as you can after that.

I did short journeys in a Mk3 1.6 TDCI for about 6 months and never saw a DPF light or engine management light, so don't expect to see a warning for the DPF on these.

Thanks for you quick reply,I'm concerned that I might not get up to the right temp to even start a regen. Most people say take it for a good run once a week but imo most of those journeys would be pointless, hence why I was thinking of getting forscan to see if there was anything on there that would tell me the dpf was due the blow out.
