Sync 3 replacement

Featured Replies

Hello, my sync 3 seems to be failing. It constantly flickers which is very distracting when driving. We don't have anyone local (North Devon) that seems to be able to repair, only replace. I know this will cost a fair whack but I cannot even find the part I need. I've looked on eBay, breakers yard websites and when I type the part number into Google, nothing comes up. Any idea where to look? Thanks.

The secret menu has these:

Assembly Part Number: HB5T-14G371-ABB

H/W Part Number: HB5T-140000-DA

CCPU S/W Part Number: HB5T-14G381-AJ

VMCU S/W Part Number: GB5T-14G374-CB

I'm going to assume that you think the fault is the screen. If that's the case then I think you could be going down a rabbit hole.

There are many known (and probably even more unknown) issues that cause the screen to flicker and most are not the screen. Failed or corrupted software updates are one of the main culprits. There are problems with the APIM units as well as damaged/faulty connectors and cables.

None of those numbers above are going to help you in the search for a screen if that is actually what is needed.

You need the 7 digit Ford finis code which is not on the actual unit itself.

Since you are expecting this to be an expensive repair (and it most probably will be), I'd recommend that you take it to a Ford main dealer and at least have the fault diagnosed even if you then choose not to get them to do the repair.
