2017 MK4 Handbrake not working

Featured Replies

Hi all, any ideas why my handbrake has stopped working. No warning or anything, no lights on dash, it just doesn't come on! Good job it's an auto so I can just leave it in park, but need to get it fixed asap

As there are no warning lights, it may simply be a broken button, so the car doesn't know you're trying to apply the handbrake.

(PS - Manuals can be left in gear to prevent them rolling with no handbrake  )

any idea how to remove the switch?

Not on a Galaxy unfortunately.  Generally we would try to access the rear of the switch to push in spring tabs which hold it in place before pushing the button up and out.  I suspect either part of the centre console or maybe the side panel will need removing for access.
