Side lights not working.

Featured Replies

I have a 2009 Ford S Max recently the rear and front N/S side lights stopped working. All other lights are working when first turn ignition on and turn lights on they come on for second then go off again. Have checked the bulbs and they are ok.

Read that they are no fuses but are operated by a BCMII. Can these be reset or do I need to change it. Any help would be great

make sure you have the right bulbs in each socket i had some that had been forced in and it made the BCM go crazy so i renewed them all for the right ones and they work fine hope this helps

I had the same situation on my focus. The sidelights came on briefly when I unlocked the car which led me to believe that the bulbs were OK. I thought it might be a dodgy connection so I had all the light clusters out, all the trims off, the seats out and the carpets up to trace the wires back to the BCM. As a last result, I swapped the bulbs from the other side and it worked fine. When I did a resistance test on the rear bulb, it was all other the place. Basically, it would briefly come on when I unlocked the car, but the BCM could detect a fault so it shut down that circuit. Just goes to show.....check the easy things first!!!

Sorted light problem, I had a rear view camera fitted with it's own screen. The camera was connected to the reverse light earth So thought I would disconnect the power and the lights worked ok again. Seems that the circuit safety did not like having it using the same earth connection.
