Flashing Red Light

Featured Replies

Hello and thanks in advance for any help. I own a 2010 Ford Fiesta and yesterday a single red light has started flashing in the centre of the console. It’s never done this before. The car is starting fine & yesterday had its MOT so was in the garage. It seems to flash at all times other than when I’m driving.

Centre of the instrument cluster?

It sounds like the immobiliser light. It will have always done this.

I really appreciate your help and I’m hoping that’s the case but it’s 100% hasn’t done it before and I’ve owned car for five years. Maybe the garage yesterday reset something but also there’s two similar cars on my road and I’ve looked this morning and there’s aren’t flashing.

Several old threads on this, eg:

Fwiw we had 2 Mk 7s and the light was there when the car was correctly locked. Very noticeable by its absence when I got a Mk 8.

Thank Eric I appreciate your help. The car is starting and driving really well so I’ll try and ignore it. It’s just odd that it hasn’t been flashing for the last five yrs. Hope you have a good day.

Maybe a previous owner had put a bit of tape over it and the garage doing the MOT removed it?

Maybe it was covered by dust and got a complimentary valet after MOT?
